Volume & Trend Analysis Template

A structured template for recording how trading volume and price trends develop together on a crypto chart. About this material

Price tells only part of the story on a crypto chart; volume shows how much activity sits behind a move. This template gives you a repeatable structure for studying the two together. For each chart you review, it provides fields for the asset, timeframe and date, the direction and strength of the current trend, the recent volume pattern, and whether volume is confirming the move or diverging from it. A short notes area lets you record what you expected to happen and, later, what actually happened, so you can compare your reading with the outcome. Guidance at the top of the template explains how rising and falling volume are commonly interpreted during trends, breakouts and pullbacks. Using the same layout each time makes your practice easier to review. The template supports learning and self-review; it is not a trading system and not investment advice.

01
Level 1

Beginner

235 credits

What this level includes
  • Covered in this level

It covers what trading volume shows, how to identify an uptrend, a downtrend and a sideways market, and how to fill in the basic sections of the template: date, timeframe, trend direction and whether volume is rising or falling.

  • Suited to

This Beginner level is for learners who look at crypto charts but usually ignore the volume bars underneath. It introduces why volume matters and uses the template to record simple observations about trend and volume together.

  • What you will be able to apply

You will be able to describe the trend on a crypto chart, read the volume bars beneath it and complete a simple template entry that links the two. You will also build a habit of noting what you see before forming an opinion.

02
Level 2

Intermediate

435 credits

What this level includes
  • Covered in this level

You will work through volume that confirms a trend, breakouts with and without strong volume, divergence between price and volume, volume spikes around news, and using the template notes column to explain your reading and compare it with what happened next.

  • Suited to

The Intermediate level suits learners who can record trend and volume and now want to interpret what the relationship suggests. It explains how volume can support a move or hint that it is losing strength.

  • What you will be able to apply

You will be able to interpret common volume and trend relationships on real crypto charts, record your reasoning clearly in the template and compare it with later price action to see which readings held up and which did not.

Level 3

Advanced

735 credits

What this level includes
  • Covered in this level

It covers volume fragmented across exchanges, the risk of unreliable reported volume, low-liquidity tokens, comparing volume across timeframes, volume-based indicators and weighing volume evidence against price structure. The material is for education and is not investment advice.

  • Suited to

This Advanced level is for learners who read volume confidently and want to deal with the complications of crypto markets. It explores why volume figures differ between exchanges and how that affects the conclusions you draw.

  • What you will be able to apply

Through this level, you will learn to question the quality of the volume data you use, combine several volume views with trend analysis and record uncertainty in the template instead of drawing firm conclusions from weak evidence.

04
Level 4

Expert

1,035 credits

What this level includes
  • Covered in this level

You will study customising the template fields, setting consistent rules for data sources, reviewing a large set of entries for patterns in your own reasoning, balancing detail against the time spent, and linking volume analysis with market structure and wider context.

  • Suited to

The Expert level is for experienced analysts who want their volume and trend records to become a reliable long-term study tool. It focuses on refining the template and reviewing many entries together to improve judgement.

  • What you will be able to apply

Once finished, you will be able to run a consistent, documented volume and trend journal, draw insights from many entries at once and adjust your process based on evidence, while accepting that volume analysis supports judgement rather than predicting outcomes.
